Steve Arthur was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1954 and spent his early childhood there. At the age of 8, Steve's parents moved to Pasadena, California " a short distance from " downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood. At age 11 Steve's family moved to Covina, CA  where Steve attended middle school and Charter Oak High School.

Steve's musical career started at age 13 by taking guitar lessons and learning the popular music of the 50's and 60's. By age 15, Steve started performing in local rock bands and doing concerts and by 18, had performed at such famous clubs in the Los Angeles-Hollywood area as Gazzarri's, The Ice House, and Whiskey A Go Go. From 18 to 21, Steve attended Mt. San Antonio Junior College as a music major and began playing piano in addition to his guitar work. In 1976, Steve moved to Vista, CA a city in North San Diego County and began performing with local musicians a complete range of music including Rock, Blues, Rock and Roll, Top 40, Jazz, Funk, Country, Swing, Oldies but Goodies, Fusion, and Original Songs. Steve's songwriting also includes a wide variety of styles, and most recently is Contemporary Christian Music. The "Arthur / Maples" Project is a collaboration of Steve Arthur and Ken Maples. 

Ken Maples and I go way back to high school where we performed together in a band called "Black Eye Silver Wing" all over LA and Hollywood, and also performed in front of crowd's as large as 6,000 people. After Steve moved to San Diego County, He lost track of Ken and did  not know where he lived. It wasn't until 1994, when another friend of Steve's from high school, "Bob Fishetti" told Steve that Ken Maples lived close to him in Fontana, CA. What was clearly ironic was that both of us had become "born again christians" having accepted Christ and raising family's with children the same ages apart from each other. From that point, we have written approximately 30 songs of which we have recorded in the studio 10 songs that are on our first album "More Than Ready" released in early 2008. 

In May 2008, "Arthur Maples" performed at the 3 day "Spirit West Coast" Christian music festival in Del Mar, CA . 2008 was the 5th year that Spirit West Coast has done the festival at the Del Mar Racetrack and County Fairgrounds, but the first year local San Diego County Christian musicians and recording artists were provided stages to perform on. Steve lives just north of Del Mar in a city called "Encinitas" and has been a resident of North San Diego County for 32 years. Steve is looking forward to next years "Spirit West Coast"  2009 in Del Mar in late May and is now a regional representative for Spirit West Coast in San Diego County promoting Spirit West Coast 2009.

Also, "Arthur Maples" has been performing for Inland Empire United Methodist Churches doing a combination of original and contemporary praise music as part of "Ken Maples Music Ministries" a solo project that Ken has been involved in with "Incubator Records". Ken has been providing music for United Methodist programs "Chrysalis" and "The Walk to Emmaus" for years now and belongs to the Rialto United Methodist Church. 

Looking forward, Steve and Ken are going to concentrate on the Southern California Counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernadino and San Diego to share the Lords music for His purpose. We both are thankful that the Lord has been "so gracious" in the doors he has opened for us thus far, and are excited about what is in store for us from now on. For those congregations that do not have a sound system, we have our own sound system that we bring to the location.
